Riverside Baptist Church's Child Development Center is a biblically
based educational program. As a ministry of Riverside Baptist Church, our
Statement of Faith reflects the beliefs of the church.
These basic beliefs will
be reflected in our curriculum in a manner that is appropriate for each age
group, as well as in our communication and business practices.
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three
persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19, John 10:30).
We believe that the Holy Bible is the divine, inspired, and
true Word of God and is to be considered the highest authority when determining
appropriate lifestyles, moral character, and relationships with God and others
(Mark 12:31, Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:15-16; 2 Peter 1:21).
We believe that God has given parents/guardians the
responsibility of bringing up their children to love God and respect His
teachings as described in the Bible. It is important that the family, the
school, and the church agree to teach the morals and values taught in the Bible
if children are to receive the strongest foundation for life (Proverbs 22:6; 1
John 4:19; Mark 12:30).
We believe that the world is part of God's creation and that
He is ruler over and in all things; therefore, all curricula must be taught and
interpreted from a biblical perspective (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 4:9-10;
Matthew 19:14).
We believe that salvation is a free gift from God and that
no one can do anything on his or her own to earn that gift (Titus 3:5-8).
We believe that we become Christians when we receive this
free gift of salvation by:
- Admitting that we are sinners, that we do not have the
ability to live perfectly, and that we need to be in a right relationship with
God (Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 John 1:9);
- Believing that Jesus Christ died on the cross as payment for
our sins and that He rose from the dead in order to provide a way for us to
be in a right relationship with God (John 10:10; Romans 5:8; Romans 6:23; Peter
2:24; Romans 5:8);
- Confessing our belief in Jesus Christ publicly (Romans 10:9-10).
After becoming a Christian we should follow His teachings as outlined in the Bible (2 Corinthians
5:17).
